Ordering and Payments
Orders are manually processed upon receipt. We reserve the right to accept or reject any order without providing a reason. A confirmation email only confirms receipt — a contract is formed once an invoice is issued. Offers are subject to availability and while stocks last.
Orders placed through our site for one off and repeat prescriptions are reviewed and processed by qualified pharmacists registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council. Other orders may not.
Our service serves as an invitation to treat—not an offer. When you place an order, you are making an offer to purchase. Pharmacytoday reserves the right to accept or reject that offer without providing a reason.
A confirmation email, sms, whatsapp or robotic call simply acknowledges receipt of your request. A binding agreement is only formed once we issue a sales invoice after our pharmacist or member of our team reviews and approves the order. (Service dependent). We currently only deliver prescription medication within the UK.
Payments are typically collected when your order is dispatched (except PayPal payments, which are taken at checkout). If payment fails or is reversed, you must provide an alternative payment method promptly.
In the event of non-payment, reasonable recovery costs, including legal fees, may be added to your account.
If a credit product is used to make a purchase. Please consider your ability to repay before using it. Missed payments may affect your credit rating or future borrowing. They are available to UK residents aged 18+ for purchases and are subject to approval. Terms and conditions apply.

- And/or submitted a valid prescription (electronic or paper, signed by a registered prescriber)

We may need to perform and collect Information from third party databases and referral companies such as identity and credit reference agencies, which may include details about you and your home. By creating an account with us you give your consent for us to perform such identity checks to ensure the medication we are prescribing is going to the correct person.
NHS Prescriptions
Once you create an account or submit a request such as for a new or repeat prescription we will forward your request to your GP as promptly as possible. By doing so, you authorise Pharmacytoday to collect your prescription from your doctor on your behalf.

Please note that due to third-party systems and network factors, we cannot guarantee specific delivery times or that your request will be processed without delay. It remains your responsibility to follow up with your GP if needed.
Prescription Only Medicines (POM)
We strive to maintain up-to-date pricing for all Prescription Only Medicines listed on our site. However, prices may occasionally change due to manufacturer costs, supply issues, or special-order requirements. If this happens, we will contact you to confirm any changes after receiving your prescription.
Free NHS Prescriptions
In certain cases, patients are automatically eligible to receive NHS prescriptions free of charge. To check whether you qualify, you can visit the official NHS eligibility checker on their website.
What Do We Need from You?
When you register with us and are a patient with Pharmacytoday, we’ll ask whether you usually pay for your NHS prescriptions. If you're entitled to free prescriptions, we'll request details about the type of exemption you hold—and, where relevant, the expiry date of your exemption certificate.
We’ll also send reminders when your exemption is approaching its expiry to help you stay updated.
Pharmacytoday uses the
NHS Real Time Exemption Checking (RTEC) system to verify your exemption status electronically. If the RTEC system is unable to confirm your exemption, we’ll rely on the details provided in your Pharmacytoday account.
We do not require physical evidence of your exemption status. However, it is your responsibility to ensure that the information you provide is correct and current. You can update this at any time via your online account or by reaching out to our Customer service team.
The NHS may conduct routine checks on exemption claims. Providing false information in order to receive free prescriptions may result in a penalty charge if your exemption status is incorrect. By keeping your details accurate, you help us avoid billing errors and ensure compliance with NHS rules.
What Happens When Your NHS Exemption Expires?
If your NHS prescription charge exemption has expired and you haven’t updated your account with valid, current details, we may begin charging for prescriptions—provided we hold your payment information. If no payment details are available, this may delay the dispensing of your medication while we attempt to contact you.
If your previous exemption falls under one of the categories below, payment for prescriptions will be required once your exemption expires:
- You held a maternity exemption certificate
- You were under 16 years of age
- You were aged 16 to 18 and in full-time education
Any account with an expired exemption and valid payment information on file will automatically be charged for prescriptions.
In other cases, we will continue to process prescriptions free of charge—unless we are made aware of a change in your exemption status.
Please note: If your exemption is no longer valid and you continue to claim free prescriptions, the NHS may issue a penalty fine. It is your responsibility to ensure that your information is accurate and up to date.
You can manage your exemption status at any time by logging into your online account or contacting our support team via one of the methods above .
NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificates (PPC)
If you take regular medication, an NHS Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) may help you save money. A PPC covers the cost of NHS prescriptions for a set period of time, meaning you won’t be charged per prescription during that window.
You can learn more and apply for a PPC online.
Once we’ve been notified of a valid PPC, we’ll update your account to reflect that you are exempt from prescription charges for the duration of your certificate. However, it remains your responsibility to keep us informed of any changes to your circumstances or PPC status.
Managing Medications on Behalf of Others
While patients are generally expected to register for our services themselves, in certain situations it is possible to register and manage prescriptions on someone else’s behalf.
You may register and order prescriptions for another person if :
- You are the parent or legal guardian of a minor
- You have been appointed guardian through a guardianship order or a section under the Mental Health Act
- You have been authorised to act as a proxy and have obtained the patient’s consent
In such cases, you must also confirm that the pharmacist or pharmacy technician processing the request has access to the patient’s NHS Summary Care Record, where appropriate.
If you are supporting someone with setting up an account or managing their prescriptions, it’s essential that the patient understands the process and has given clear permission at all key stages—especially where consent is required for registration, account management, and access to their records.
Access to Your NHS Summary Care Record (SCR)
Your Summary Care Record (SCR) is a secure electronic record that contains essential health information, such as:
- Current medications
- Known allergies
- Records of adverse reactions
- Your name, address, date of birth, and NHS number for accurate identification
In order to provide safe and effective care, Pharmacytoday may request access to view your SCR. This allows our pharmacy team to ensure any prescribed treatment is based on the most current and accurate medical information available.
Each time your SCR is accessed, the event is logged, and a record is kept. You are entitled to request details of this access at any time.
You may withdraw your consent for us to view your SCR at any time by contacting us directly.
If you would prefer not to have an SCR at all, you can opt out by informing your GP, who will update your record accordingly.
For more details about SCRs and how they’re used, visit:
